Philosophy
At I Can! Preschool, we believe in the power of play-based learning. Our curriculum is designed to teach children about the world around them using games, song, and dance! We emphasize the importance of social and emotional development by practicing active listening, modeling pro-social skills, and teaching self-regulation strategies to help children grow into the most kind and resilient version of themselves! We provide a safe and supportive environment where children can explore, discover, and grow.
We have two classrooms and a large outdoor space that we use for gardening, outdoor education opportunities, and sensory play! We are a Registered Family Child Care Home and are licensed to care for preschool and school-aged children. We serve nutritious meals and snacks that follow the USDA/CACFP meal standards, so that your little one has the fuel they need to learn and play!
About us
I Can! Preschool is led by Gloria Formick, an experienced educator with over 30 years in Early Childhood Education. Gloria's passion for early childhood development is the heart of our school. She uses song and dance to make learning fun and engaging for every child. She speaks English and Spanish and encourages her students to partake in the beauty of a vibrant multicultural world that exists all around us!
Gloria was most recently the Head Teacher at the New Dream Child Care Annex in Eugene, Oregon, for the last 15 years. From her time working at New Dream, she has amassed several hundred hours of continuing education credits in topics such as early childhood cognitive development, positive behavior reinforcements, food safety and nutrition guidelines, socio-emotional development, and many more.
Gloria's life work is to care for children in a way that helps them feel safe and understood. We create a joyful environment for young minds to connect with their peers and learn foundational topics!
